How do I recognise a PenDelfin model?

Models created by PenDelfin can be recognised from the following aspects:

  • Glaze – Generally the finish on PenDelfin models is a semi-matt glaze. In other words there is a slight dullness to the piece. The aim of this is to give the model a more life-like effect. Certain detail such as the eye detail is specifically picked out in glass. If you encounter any pieces, which are completely glossed over they are probably not PenDelfin models. Earlier models have a semi-matt gloss finish, which made the models yellow in appearance, unlike today’s models, which have a clear finish.

  • Modelling – PenDelfin models display a clear example of superior modelling. The artistry of Jean, Doreen, Tony and now Raewyn is way ahead of leading competitors. If you encounter a PenDelfin piece poorly modelled it is unlikely to be manufactured at a PenDelfin factory, but from another manufacturer. Some key details to look out for:

          • The definition of the facial features, such as the lack of raised eyebrows or no creases in the cheeks.

          • Also the coat always exhibits fine details, and the body has a lot of fine features.

If any of the above features are missing the model is probably not a PenDelfin and should be avoided.

  • Paintwork – PenDelfin models always exhibit rich colour, enhanced by the underlying tinting coat. The first sign of an imitation model is that the colour of the fur tends to be ‘orangy’. Also usually PenDelfin models will exhibit little flowers or patterns strategically painted on so look out for these. If you encounter a piece that doesn’t have a quality finish about it, avoid it. If you’re unsure seek advice from you local stockists.

Lastly, when shopping for models always try and check the base. All PenDelfin models will have a PenDelfin stamp as proof of its authenticity. If this is not present then avoid the piece. Further some pieces especially limited and event pieces have the initials of the designer painted on, again this will provide a clear indication of the authenticity of the model. Good Luck.

Can I return an unwanted PenDelfin model bought from this web-site to a store?

Unfortunately there is no PenDelfin store as such, and our PenDelfin warehouse has no public access due to health and safety regulations. Further our stockists stores will have their own stock inventory so may be unable to offer a replacement or a refund. For further information we would advise that you contact your local stockist, who will discuss their returns procedure. Please be aware that since the product was originally dispatched from our warehouse and not your local stockists, the stockist will be under no obligation to offer either a refund or a replacement.

Do you supply or accept gift vouchers?

Unfortunately at this time the PenDelfin website does not have the necessary facility to accept gift vouchers, therefore we do not supply them. We may however at some point supply discount vouchers to be used as part payment for PenDelfin products bought within store. These would be distributed with special PenDelfin pieces that have been purchased by the user via the PenDelfin website.

I can’t find retired or older models on the PenDelfin website. Why is this?

The PenDelfin website offers the full range of PenDelfin models currently being manufactured. Although there is a secondary market for older PenDelfin models, there is no access to this via this website. For information on how this may be accessed please contact your local stockist, or e-mail PenDelfin Studios at the following address:family@PenDelfin.co.uk, other contact methods on contact page.

Please Note: PenDelfin reserve the right to withdraw any PenDelfin model from the website at any time without giving prior notice.

How do I join the Family Circle?

Currently there are three methods to join the Family Circle. Does PenDelfin offer a valuation service for my PenDelfin collection?

With an ever-changing market, PenDelfin is currently unable to offer this service. We would however like to suggest that you visit your local stockist or specialist dealer who may be able to provide you with further details.

I’m finding it difficult to locate a product on your website, what can you suggest?

Although organised into categories to make searching for that beloved rabbit easier, please be aware however that with a changing market, some PenDelfin products may be withdrawn, temporarily or permanent. This may be done without notice. In such cases please contact your local stockist who may be able to advise you on where you may obtain the model you are seeking. Our stockist locator, located in the stockist menu, may be able to assist you.

Does PenDelfin offer a restoration service?
